The road to success is always under construction
Yesterday, I wrote about how can pride ruin your financial plans and here I am today, encouraging that distractions could actually help in achieving one’s goals.
On my way to school, I take interest in what I see on the road. Oftentimes, I would see men digging in the roads trying to fix holes and other areas of the road. For several weeks, the part of the road under construction becomes useless and impassible.
However, it is necessary and beneficial in the long run that the road would have occasional maintenance than to let it be the way it is and see constant accidents due to unsafe roads.
The same is true with our goals, especially the long term ones.
We need distractions from time to time so we could better assess our goals, look through every hole of them and fix them.
What are these distractions that we’re okay to give in to?
Distractions come in various forms. It could be the desire to buy a Nike running shoes, the desire to have that summer vacation or simply the desire to take a week break from work.
These little distractions, when done sparingly, often energizes us to keep going on our goals. Being constantly motivated helps us to become more dedicated and more passionate in reaching our goals. It’s not a bad thing to reward ourselves from time to time. It’s those little pleasures that keeps us going.
Just don’t overdo them. Or over-indulge.
